With a net worth of Rs 4,600 crore, what makes Juhi Chawla one of the wealthiest Bollywood celebrities?

Today celebrates Juhi Chawla’s 57th birthday. She is the second wealthiest Bollywood celebrity behind Shah Rukh Khan.

Recent news reports about Juhi Chawla’s net worth of Rs 4,600 crore, which surpasses the combined riches of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, and numerous other industry colleagues, made headlines. This was unexpected because Juhi hasn’t had a successful movie since 2009 and has essentially been in semi-retirement. She was one of the most successful celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s, after all. Although she later cut back on her film production in the 2000s, she was already co-founder of Red Chillies Group with her husband Jay Mehta and fellow actor Shah Rukh Khan, as well as the owner of an IPL team.

Juhi revealed in an old interview with ETC Bollywood, “When I was very little, they asked us in school what we wanted to be when we grew up. At that time, a movie called Rich and Famous came out, so I just scribbled in my book: Happy, healthy, rich and famous. My pals teased me a lot after they saw this. “How are you going to become wealthy and well-known?” they asked. At the time, I was clueless. In sixth or seventh grade, I was barely there. Look at life, though—I have a chance. My participation in a college fashion show led me to the Miss India Pageant. Even my parents were taken aback.
