Maruti Suzuki is making a significant investment in private customers by launching the new Dzire, putting in INR 1000 crore.

Introduced at an initial price of INR 6.79 lakh, the latest Dzire ranges up to INR 10.14 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom) and is equipped with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z Series engine. It is the inaugural Maruti Suzuki vehicle to achieve a 5-star GNCAP rating. The base model sedan includes features such as an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags.

New Delhi: According to Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, the nation’s biggest automaker by volume, the company has committed almost INR 1,000 crore in the creation and manufacturing of the new Dzire compact sedan.

In his remarks at the 4th-generation model’s Monday introduction, he said that while the SUV industry has been expanding, “other segments are equally important” in order to maintain a large market share.

It’s interesting that the new model is only available to individual customers. Maruti Suzuki had planned to keep selling the current third-generation Tour S for business use, as the fleet category accounts for a sizeable 30% to 35% of Dzire sales.

The new Dzire is the first Maruti Suzuki model to receive a 5-star GNCAP rating. It has a 1.2-liter three-cylinder Z Series engine with petrol and CNG fuel options. The entry-level sedan has features like an electric sunroof, a 360-degree camera, and six airbags. The model was launched at an introductory price of INR 6.79 lakh, which can go up to INR 10.14 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). The introductory prices are valid until December 31, 2024.
